Six Sentence Sunday - First Go Around

Six Sentence Sunday is a blog ring (no, not a chain letter - remember those?) founded and kept up by the Six Sentence Sunday blogger. Check it out, and visit the other participants!

My first post will be from my work in progress, YA dystopian/teenage assassin manuscript, LACED.

Images of the boy on the platform, of Andy, and the man in the tweed jacket play against my eyelids and I’m forced to open them again. By now the man is slouched over on a train to New-New York. No one will notice he’s dead until they stop, and round up the passengers up like cattle to force them through the security check point. By tomorrow the reports will say Chancellor Adkins died of a massive heart attack. No one will question the media, no one will think of me bumping into him, no one will wonder how a man of thirty-five died so young. It’s the beauty of the job, I guess.

That's it. Hope you enjoyed it.

  4. Dystopian YA? Really? Sounds great.

I do like the opening, but it makes me think of "the Train Job" episode of Firefly and "New New York" makes me think of Doctor Who.

However, the story sounds great, and "New New York" is still a great concept.

  5. Thanks everyone!

@Casi - Thanks. I can't say I've seen either. Although isn't Firefly the show that had the hot guy from Castle on it? Maybe I'll watch! LOL

When I first read your description: "YA dystopian/teenage assassin manuscript," I thought, "nothing like narrowing it down, LOL!"

I agree with the comment above: I love the voice.
But having read the snippet, I see it.

  14. "I can't say I've seen either. Although isn't Firefly the show that had the hot guy from Castle on it?" Yes, that's it. And the movie Serenity came from the same series. It has a huge cult following now (says the cultee). And it's coming back to Science channel on March 6th if you want to see what the fuss is all about.

Oh yes, on to your six. A YA with a female teenage assassin? Wow. Loved getting inside her head as she contemplates her victim.

    Great six. Welcome to SSS!

  17. A little ambiguous, but I was guessing probably a female assassin (2nd guess would be a female approving of the job well done). Great six!
